To become skilled in several machining disciplines in the Production of Precision Components using a range of CNC, Semi-Automatic and Manual machines. Including Lathes, Mills, Cylindrical Grinding and Honing machines.

Loadpoith are a successful precision engineering company based in Wimborne manufacturing Air Bearing Spindles, Rotary Tables, Linear Sliders & Drivers

The successful candidate will learn a range of skills including:

  • CNC Milling
  • CNC Turning
  • Manual Milling
  • Manual Turning
  • Assembly and Testing of finished equipment
  • In house design of products
  • Health and Safety at work

Process • You should not operate equipment unless supervised or assessed as competent and safe to do so. • Work in an efficient and methodical way, paying attention to Safety, Product Quality and Product Specifications, reporting any concerns and non-conformances quickly to your manager. • Attend work at the agreed times and days according to your agreed working pattern. Work in a way that is compliant with relevant Company and Department Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures • Apply a high level of tidiness and cleanliness to your workstation, taking due care of all equipment and maintaining an organised and tidy workspace. • Use and operate appropriate equipment and processes including CNC, Semi-Automatic and Manual industrial machines according to the Instructed Methods and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure the final product is always completed in accordance with customer requirements. • Use a range of hand tools, power tools and measuring devices in the correct and safe way whilst using these to complete assembly tasks and check dimensions and tolerances. • Become trained in the production of precision components through Turning, Milling, Grinding and Honing manufacturing processes • Carry out finishing tasks using industrial machines such as Honing and Turning to achieve exact dimensions and tolerances. • Become trained in the use of different methods of measuring accuracy and tolerances, using Gauges, Micrometres, Coordinate and Optical Measuring Machines. • Report results of non-conformance and audits to the departments Manager or Supervisor to promote continuous improvement and problem solving. • Follow and comply with Company Quality Standards, Policies and Procedures to ensure that Site Standards, Product Integrity and Due Diligence are maintained. • Diligently follow the Apprenticeship Programme completing assignments on time and to the required or higher standard, reporting on any problems you may have both to Bournemouth & Poole College and your Line Supervisor

Desired qualifications

A minimum of 4 GCSEs including English, Maths, and a Science subject, or a Level 1 Functional Skill in English and Maths • Qualified to ‘A’ level / Level 3 Qualifications would be an advantage / preferred but not essential. • Completed or part completed Apprenticeship Programme in Production or Mechanical Engineering and Machining.

  •  Equivalent vocational training and experience may also be considered

  • Lifting of assemblies up to 15kg / 20kg using correct manual handling techniques or lifting aids where required
  • Use of Compressed Air Supply
  • Use of CNC, Semi-Automatic and Manual Industrial Manufacturing Machines, (Under supervision where required unless training and assessment of skills is complete)
  • Use of Electrical Testing Equipment
  • Attention to detail and focus to precision throughout the working day

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
