Main duties and tasks include:
- To assist in the setting up and clearing away of all activities and equipment.
- To actively encourage children’s progress in all areas of development, types and stages of play, by interaction and extension of play activities.
- To be involved in activity planning and record keeping.
- To attend training as requested: safeguarding, Paediatric First Aid, EYFS training and any other training available through Norfolk County Council.
- To ensure high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained at all times.
- To support the work and beliefs of the setting by helping to create an environment that promotes open and equal opportunities for children and adults.
- To ensure that any information received concerning the children is kept confidential at all times.
- To encourage the participation and involvement of all children attending the setting.
- To be flexible with the working practices of the setting.
- To be prepared to help in any areas of the setting with domestic duties or other duties as specified by the manager or owner.

Desired qualifications
Applicants should ideally have Level 2 Maths and English Functional Skills (or equivalent GCSEs), although a positive attitude and a willingness to work towards equivalent qualifications is equally as important. You will also be expected to undertake the apprenticeship qualifications.
An additional day may be required in college for Functional Skills Maths, English and ICT if not already achieved or if needed to up-skill (delivered on the monthly Masterclass day).
Future prospects
A permanent position may be available for the right candidate following successful completion of the apprenticeship. The business is looking for somebody who wants to develop and gain a full- time position following their apprenticeship.
Things to consider
- A passion for the outdoors and nature is needed.
- Ability to drive would be good but not essential.
- Happy to work outside in all weathers.
- Motivated and able to think on your feet as we are lead by the children.
- There is a bus stop nearby but can be unreliable.
About the employer
We are a busy childminding business, looking after ages varying from 9 months to 9 years. We offer daycare, afterschool and holiday clubs. We are largely based outside with a huge amount of outdoor space, including a lovely woodland area as well as indoor playrooms. The setting is child- led and gentle.
