    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

As an apprentice nursery assistant your duties will include the following:

  • Assisting qualified staff with day to day care and learning of children.
  • Keeping a high standard of cleanliness within the nursery.
  • Learning about the children's development and using this knowledge in day to day practice.
  • Assisting with setting up activities for the children.
  • Assisting with meal times and sleeping times.
  • Liaising with parents/carers

Things to consider

The role is full-time working Monday to Friday however; you must be flexible as there will be some early starts and late finishes. The nursery are open 7.30 – 6.30.

Training provider

Full Apprenticeship training for Level 3 will be provided by Interserve. All training done on site at work, no day release. You will also be working towards a technical certificate, ERR (employer rights and responsibilities and functional skills in maths, English and ICT if not already achieved.
