Jack Lopresti MP is looking for an enthusiastic Business Support Apprentice to assist his team in his constituency office in Bradley Stoke. This will be a varied role in a unique environment which will provide the successful candidate with opportunities to grow and develop.

You will be working as part of a small team to help constituents and keep the office running smoothly.

Duties will include:

  • Answering the office phone
  • Logging incoming correspondence by post and email
  • Progressing basic casework
  • Monitoring office supplies and ordering stock
  • Monitoring social media
  • Assist with maintaining office contacts

There will be scope to expand into other duties as the role progresses.

The role is to support all functions of the Constituency Office in supporting a busy Member of Parliament in his duties locally.

  • This role will expand as the successful candidate gains more experience. In the long-term, it will open up opportunities to work for other Members of Parliament both locally and in Westminster and will provide an excellent grounding for other roles in an office environment

Jack lives locally here in the constituency.

Born in Southmead Hospital in August 1969, Jack has lived and worked in Bristol and the South West area all his life. On finishing school at 15, he worked in his father’s ice cream and catering business locally for over ten years. After leaving his family business in 1997, Jack worked in the financial services and residential property sectors, as a consultant and as a manager.

Jack served on Bristol City Council for eight years between May 1999 and May 2007 for the Stockwood Ward. In 2001 Jack was the Parliamentary Candidate for Bristol East. Jack also stood for the South West Region, which includes Gibraltar, at the European Parliament elections in 2004.

Jack is an Army veteran and served with 29 Commando RA as a mobilised reservist Gunner for a year. Jack was deployed to Helmand Province in Afghanistan on Operation Herrick 9 in the Autumn/Winter of 2008-9.

He has regularly run the Bristol Half Marathon on behalf of several charities over the years including Barnardo’s, the Julian Trust, The Army Benevolent Fund and the Frenchay After Burns Unit Club. In 2012 he ran the London Marathon and raised several thousand pounds for Action for Children. Whilst serving in Afghanistan, Jack ran the Camp Bastion Half Marathon for Help for Heroes on New Year's Day 2009. Last year, Jack ran the Severn Bridge and Bristol Half Marathons for Clic Sargent, raising nearly £1000.

Jack really enjoys reading about military and political history. He also enjoys films and the cinema. He is a member of the General George Patton Historical Society and Jack regards General Patton as a personal hero and has had an article published on him. He is also a member of the International Churchill Centre, as well as the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club based in Filton. He is a Vice-President of the Stoke Gifford Branch of the Royal British Legion, a member of Bradley Stoke Lions and is a Freemason.  

Jack married fellow MP, Andrea Jenkyns, in 2017. Together they have a young son, Clifford, who was born in 2017. Jack also has three grown up children named Dominic, Sophie and Michael.

In January 2018, Jack was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and was then appointed Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, Stephen Barclay MP in November 2018.

The office that the apprentices will working in is number 29 The Courtyard, Bristol BS32 4NQ. At times and if appropriate the apprentice will also be required to travel to the Parliamentary Office in the House of Commons, Westminster.

  • SGS has elected to deliver the on-programme learning using the Level 3 Diploma for the Business Administrator as well as the Level 3 apprentice standard
  • The standard is assessed by a range of methods to meet all the knowledge, skills and behaviours. Evidence will be collated within a portfolio of evidence
  • To achieve the full Level 3, all units of the Diploma must be passed, meeting the assessment criteria
  • College attendance for the delivery of the Diploma is mandatory for all apprentices
