As a Welding & Fabrication Apprentice, you will be involved with a variety of tasks across the business. A Training Plan will be created for you upon arrival, rotating you around different areas of Production throughout your Apprenticeship, and you also be assigned a mentor.

This is an environment where Health & Safety and following Risk Assessments are key so please do keep this in mind.

Key responsibilities include:

• Set up and tack weld
• Carrying out full welding of seams and joints –in parallel with learning how to read fabrication drawings, welding symbols and associated specifications.  
• General workshop duties.
• Becoming fully conversant with a range of fabrication methods including metal bending, cutting, finishing and dressing.
• Gaining a comprehensive understanding of materials, their properties and applications.
• DFMA (Design for Manufacture)
• Tool & Fixture design
• Costings
• The ability to operate Robotic Welding equipment, along with other CNC driven fabrication plant and equipment.
• Achieving PCN2 level – dye penetrant testing and report generation.

We put a lot of time and effort into training our apprentices as we hope that they will stay with the company as valued employees once their apprenticeship is complete. Become a coded TIG Welder Gain additional qualifications eg PCN2, CSWIP

Things to consider

The successful candidates will need to commit to undertaking a comprehensive training programme on-the-job training and completing a portfolio of evidence. This is a physical role, based on a shop floor environment. There will be long periods of time when you are standing.
