Please not the Start date for this position will be ASAP To provide continuity of care for groups of children, ensuring that each child is provided with a safe, secure, and emotionally and
physically stimulating environment and programme of activities in which to develop.

To provide a wide range of enjoyable, stimulating and educational activities for a group of children, this covers all aspects of the child’s individual development.
To encourage maximum quality of care to accommodate the children’s developmental stages in the room area.

  • To develop their own skills and knowledge of Childcare practice
  • To maintain required records of all children’s development, learning and activities This includes completion of: Tapestry, planning records and any other records requested
  • To be fully responsible for the children in your care, providing a consistently safe, secure and stimulating environment
  • To work as part of a team with other staff members to ensure the children receive the highest possible standard of childcare
  • Ensure that all tasks are carried out to a high standard.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the setting
  • Promoting hygiene standards through: monitoring and supervising of toilet and washing procedure, regular cleaning of toys and equipment and the cleaning of children’s crockery
  • Maintain a safe environment for the children, staff and parents/guardians. Minimise hazards and report any faulty equipment or hazards within the working environment.
  • Assist in the preparation of food and supervise snack times
  • To demonstrate good Safeguarding knowledge and expertise; to hold a current, relevant Safeguarding certificate

This is a Monday – Friday term-time only position with the opportunity for additional sessions in our busy holiday club. Hours to be agreed. Logo uniform supplied.

About the employer

Horns Drove Community Pre-school is a registered charity situated in a purpose-built lodge with a large outdoor area. We are based in the grounds of Rownhams St John’s Primary School. We run the Pre-school term time only and offer places for children who are two years old up to reception age subject to availability. We also operate a breakfast club which opens from 7.45am for children two years old and above and have extended our RASCALS After School Club and Holiday Club to children who are three years old and above. We are a friendly and caring team who are committed to offering children a safe and stimulating environment in which to play, learn and develop. We were rated Good by Ofsted in October 2018.

Apprentices must successfully complete a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification. Please refer to the DfE list of approved EYE qualifications:

Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking their end point assessment.  For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeships English and maths minimum requirements are Entry Level 3, and the British Sign Language qualification is an alternative to English qualifications for apprentices for whom this is their primary language.

Apprentices must successfully complete the Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid. (RQF) or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) Or complete a first aid course delivered by one of the following types of organisations as per the EYFS requirements. Voluntary aid society, member of trade body with an approval and monitoring system, or acknowledged by the Health and Safety Executive
