Duties will include:

  • Answering telephone enquiries from patients – booking and amending appointments on the clinical system, ensuring correct clinician and appointment length
  • Answering telephone enquiries, taking messages and routing calls to the appropriate person
  • Creating patient requests on the askmyGP system, assigning to appropriate clinician or support team member
  • Supporting the clinicians by organising healthcare interventions for patients such as contacting the patient to organise appointments for investigations
  • Processing telephone, paper and electronic requests for prescriptions, dealing with any queries
  • Liaising with other healthcare providers such as hospitals, ensuring an effective flow of information for the patient and providers 
  • Processing incoming post, ensuring distribution to the appropriate person(s) and dealing with administration enquiries
  • Processing referrals to other providers such as District Nurses
  • Greeting patients and visitors who attend the practice, dealing with enquiries at the front desk and ensuring visitor safety while in the practice – by ensuring they are in receipt of fire safety information
  • Processing new patient referrals, ensuring correct completion of paperwork
  • Scanning documents and patient notes into the clinical system
  • Ensuring a safe and tidy environment for self, staff, patients and visitors – reporting any hazards or defects to line management promptly and ensuring infection control procedures are maintained within the candidates working areas
  • Maintaining a paper filing system of patient notes
