This is a very interesting apprenticeship in which you will acquire many key skills of running a small business while getting the opportunity to learn a great deal about delivering First Aid training to a wide range of learners. You will also be able to get involved, with plenty of support, in developing and extending the business.

Assisting with administration of regulated and non-regulated training, delivered by qualified trainers including:

  • Marketing
  • Sales

All tasks will be relevant, add value to the business and provide a credible grounding for the future success of the individual. They may include, with supervision and the support:

  • Dealing with e-mail and phone call enquiries
  • Identifying appropriate courses for clients
  • Advising requirements from HSE and other organisations
  • Keeping up to date and conducting research into changes in recommendations/legal requirements with qualifications
  • Keeping up to date and conducting research into relevant news stories/updates/ideas/tips
  • Booking delegates onto appropriate courses
  • Finding/viewing/liaising with booking staff and booking venues
  • Creating confirmations and pre-course information sheets
  • Searching and uploading details for pics/information
  • Dealing with customer requests for courses and changes and general enquiries
  • Creating invoices and sending.
  • Setting up links for card payments for customers
  • Printing papers required for a course
  • Assisting with set-up of a course in a venue
  • Assisting throughout the training day with administration, assessments, hospitality etc
  • Attending promotional events
  • Attending relevant industry awareness events
  • Liaising with IQA (internal qual assurance) and EQA (External Qual assurance) regarding various quality assurance plans and activities
  • Uploading results and delegate details onto portal
  • Scanning papers, saving and uploading/sending to IQA/EQA
  • Checking digital and any paper certificates
  • Sending certificates online
  • Posting certificates when hard copy required
  • Asking for feedback for social media
  • Assisting with social media posting Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tik Tok
  • Inputting content into newly built website.
  • Dealing with Trainers regarding bookings/day rates/ agreements/ equipment/resources/cpd logs.
  • Helping to recruit new freelance trainers
  • Updating Powerpoint presentations
  • Creating promotional and awareness information via canva or other platforms

Desired qualifications

GCSEs or equivalent 4/C including maths and English as a minimum.

Future prospects

Possible progression to permanent post on successful completion of apprenticeship.

The apprentice can choose to move onto being a Freelance Trainer and/or setting up their own training centre.

The apprentice will acquire entrepreneurial knowledge and skills that will take them forward to run any business either with or without a regulatory aspect, and they can take the skills learned into a number of different roles and organisations.

Things to consider

Although this role involves liaison with customers and delegates, it may also suit someone who prefers a quieter environment in which to learn business skills. The company is very small but there will be plenty of friendly support.

Wage will vary according to entry age and level. Perfomance-related pay bonuses will be available.

20 days holiday available plus bank holidays.
