You will learn a variety of tasks and skills related to this position including:
- Relevant national and industry health and safety standards and legislation relevant to aluminium for construction
- Engineering codes and standards
- Fundamentals of engineering and design
- Computer Aided Design (CAD), including 2D and 3D modelling general engineering/manufacturing mathematical and scientific principles, methods, techniques, symbols, and calculations as required for the range of systems supplied
- Knowledge of aluminium and steel alloy properties and their characteristics
- Determining client's requirements through detailed analysis of construction drawings, bill, and verbal communications
- Liaise with architects, site and design managers
- Attend pre-contract design meetings
- Attend internal handover meetings
- Produce detailed CAD drawings for client approval
- Producing design work in accordance with project programmes
- Building Information Modelling (BIM)
- Manufacturing and construction methods
- Assembly of engineered components
- Stocktaking
Requirements and prospects
Desired skills
- Effective communication skills - both written and oral
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, strong IT skills, with ability to quickly learn new systems
- Excellent organisational skills, including ability to manage own time and meet deadlines
- Experience with AutoCAD is advantageous
- Experience within the aluminium for construction or construction products industry is desirable but not necessary

Desired qualifications
3 GCSE at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) including maths, English and a science.
