The role initially involves working as a sprinkler fitters’ mate and duties include:

  • Pipe cutting and threading
  • Reading coded drawings
  • Pipe grooving
  • General labouring
  • Looking after tools on site

The training duration of the Level 3 Metal Fabricator apprenticeship standard is usually 42 months, with an additional, up to 3 months to complete the End-Point Assessment, which includes:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
  • Level 3 Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

Full training will be provided by the employer with day release to be carried out at OTC.
