The successful applicant will work alongside our experienced and qualified staff to offer:

The baby and toddler room caters for children from birth to 3 years old. The room has been set out into specific areas of learning and development to cover the entire curriculum. The Montessori classroom caters for children from 3 years to school age. Our setting greatly focuses on the outdoors where the children enjoy spending time with our guinea pigs, Shetland ponies, lambs, calves and quails (who we watch in the incubator to see hatch).


Of note, we are also looking to recruit at our other setting, the Pear Tree Nursery, in Sherborne.

Future prospects

On completion of this Apprenticeship the right candidate will be considered to remain in a permanent role within the setting and develop their level of responsibility.

Things to consider

The setting is extremely close and walking distance from Yetminster train station. Please satisfy yourself you are able to get to the setting or can make an arrangement to be dropped off and collected before applying. Individuals who already hold a Level 4 qualification are only eligible for funding for a Level 5 or above Higher Apprenticeship and are not eligible for funding for an Intermediate Level, Advanced Level or Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship. If you hold a degree you are not eligible for Apprenticeship funding, please contact us do discuss this further. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. For more information visit: The successful candidate will be subject to references and DBS vetting. About the employer

Our highly qualified staff deliver a welcoming and stimulating nursery environment. The nursery has been converted from what was originally a barn, which is adjacent to what used to be the farmhouse; therefore, the nursery is purpose built and offers a spacious environment. Our aim as a nursery is to provide the children with a well-balanced and varied time whilst they are at nursery, to encourage the children to communicate and join in alongside their peers and with the staff. We provide a Nursery and Pre-School provision for 0 - 5 years old and After School Holiday Club for 5 - 11 year olds, serving Yetminster, Sherborne, Yeovil  and surrounding areas and are open 51 weeks of the year.

  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities: A workbook for you to do to help you understand your rights and responsibilities as an employee, and your employer’s responsibilities towards you.
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS): Provide a framework for describing the qualities and skills needed for success in learning and life. The PLTS framework has been developed and refined over a number of years in consultation with employers, parents, schools, students and the wider public.


You will attend Yeovil College one day each week. An Assessor will visit the setting to carry out observations.
