 We are excited to offer the opportunity for an apprentice to join the team and want someone who is committed to providing high-quality, person-centred care and making a difference to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist in the provision of high quality care to all residents as part of the care team in a safe manner.
  • Provide a warm and welcoming dining experience, which will include serving meals, supporting residents at mealtimes and cleaning tables
  • Support residents to maximise their personal comfort by moving and handling appropriately
  • Ensure the highest possible levels of care are maintained by supporting/assisting residents, when required with washing, bathing, toileting, dressing, undressing and all other aspects of daily living. Ensure that clients retain their dignity and comfort at all times.
  • Help to promote the mental and physical activity of residents by talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as arts & crafts,  reading, writing and singing etc.
  • Make and change beds, ensuring that rooms are clean and tidy and commodes are empty in line with the homes disposal of waste policy.  Carry out any light cleaning as instructed.
  • Provide social engagement with residents by actively listening and talking about their personal interests
  • Adhere to residents person-centred care plans by recording observations, e.g., weight, nutrition, tissue viability and liquid intake, monitor and record residents physical and emotional well-being and promptly report any changes

Training & Development:

  • Attend opportunities for personal training and development to meet the apprenticeship training programme requirements
  • Undertake such in house and external training which is appropriate to your role

Health & Safety:

  • Understand, and ensure the implementation of, the care home’s Health & Safety Policy and Emergency and Fire Procedures
  • Follow your training safe working practice within the care home.

  • Willingness to learn on the job
  • Commitment to completing all training required for the role
  • Commit to and complete the requirements of the apprenticeship

Desired qualifications

4 Grades A*-D/9-3 including maths & English.

Future prospects

Upon completion of the qualification and successfully passing the probation period there is the opportunity to join the full-time care team.
