The JB laser department is a busy environment which is led by one of our directors Nathan Laban. Nathan has been running this department since 2006 and has built up an excellent team and customer base. Our customer base is varied from profiling very small to large components.
The apprentice would have a qualification in CAD with specific reference to engineering construction design and draughting. The training programme is ideal for someone with an interest in computer design within engineering.
Your main duties will include:
- Supporting Laser office with customer orders
- Using CAD software and JB order software
- Answering laser phones and taking messages
- Keeping customer order paperwork tidy
- Designing customer parts for orders or projects
- The opportunity to develop other engineering skills such as: welding or using CNC machines
- Provide quotes; take orders and then using CAD skills program orders ready for laser profiling

You must have GCSE or equivalent in maths, English and IT Grade 4/C or above.
The opportunity to progress onto CAD Programmer or Lead CAD Programmer within the business.

About the employer
J B Engineering was established in Hatton, Derbyshire in the early seventies focusing on mechanical maintenance services, large and small fabrications, plant installation, modification and decommissioning. Using both stainless-steel and mixed metals, we construct a wide variety of products such as tanks, pipework, ducting, safety-barriers, staircases and handrails, plus general maintenance parts for industrial machines.
