The Reception and Administration team creates a positive, friendly and caring patient experience, responsible for both the traditional reception role of welcoming and signposting patients to appropriate healthcare professionals and administering the busy back-office work of prescriptions, coding correspondence, and providing task-based support to the clinicians and management. This is a fast-paced role in a busy and demanding environment. We need our staff to be flexible, resilient, well organised, and able to problem-solve and multi-task whilst maintaining a friendly and approachable manner. The most important part of the role is to provide excellent patient care and communication, and it is essential to remain calm and empathic with a professional manner.

We are a long-established friendly GP Surgery based in Chester City Centre, we have a patient list size of around 8,100, with a team of 3 GP partners, 4 Salaried GPS, ANP, 3 Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistant. We are a training practice which includes, GP Registrars, Medical Students and Student Nurses.

Job Description:

  • Taking messages and passing on information accurately
  • Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive friendly professional image to the patients and other visitors, either in person, via the telephone or online
  • To facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the clinical team and associated healthcare agencies and multidisciplinary teams
  • Accurate data input of patient medical records
  • Taking messages and passing on information accurately
  • Processing of prescriptions, results and clinical correspondence on a daily basis
  • Processing face to face and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
  • Being aware of and remaining abreast of practice policies and protocols
  • Receiving, checking and signing for deliveries

The post holder will be responsible to Deputy Managers.

  • You will be trained in all areas of the business but must have an understanding of the property industry and what is involved in being the key persons to bring together all the requirements of the director and the business
  • This training will be structured and delivered by Cheshire College - South and West. If the candidate does not hold GCSE grades A*-C (9-4) or equivalent, they will be required to complete a Level 2 Functional Skill in the relevant subjects
