This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a small business working in a variety of garden settings. We provide a range of services, many of which are listed below. These range from one off jobs to regular visits.
Activities include:
- Garden and grounds ongoing maintenance
- Garden design and layout
- Lawn care and maintenance, including scarifying, aeration, moss/weed clearance, mowing and Turfing
- Hedgecutting and trimming
- Cornish hedging
- Planting and pruning
- Strimming
- Brushcutting
- Fencing, decking and patio laying
- Garden clearance
- Soil preparation
- Weed control
- Small tree felling
- Pressure washing
As part of the role you will be expected to complete online learning courses as part of our client requirements.

Desired qualifications
2 GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade D/3 or above (or equivalent) are essential – however, applicants with relevant prior experience but without the stated qualifications may be considered, though must be prepared to work towards their level 1 functional skills qualifications.
Own transport is going to be extremely helpful due to the isolated location, though this is not essential, as long as you are able to get to and from the employer reliably and access Duchy College Rosewarne for your weekly training.
Future prospects
The appointed apprentice will be working towards a level 2 Apprenticeship, with future prospects including continuing on with your horticulture education or increased prospects of a skilled job in your chosen industry. It is hoped that the successful completion of the apprenticeship will result in an offer of employment.

Start dates will be agreed with all parties.
The vacancy may close swiftly IF a suitable candidate is found. All published dates can therefore be flexible and will be dependent on suitable candidates coming forward and registering appropriate interest.
Please ensure that you are able to get to/from the employer and to Duchy College Rosewarne reliably.
The hourly rate will rise to £6 after a initial period if work is to a satisfactory level and will raise beyond this as the apprentice develops further.

This Apprenticeship will be delivered through a combination of Work Based Assessment and weekly attendance at Duchy College Rosewarne. The programme will culminate in an End Point Assessment, where the skills and knowledge gained on the apprenticeship will be formally tested.
