The apprentice will work under supervision of the production engineer to initially learn a variety of shop floor roles including:
- Product assembly
- CNC machining centre operation
- Laser engraving and other workshop tasks
Practical tasks in other departments to aid understanding of process and product knowledge. As they develop in their apprenticeship, they will work in other areas such as stores, maintenance, QA, and design to develop production control knowledge.
The long-term plan is for the apprentice to develop their skills and knowledge to provide production control cover, move onto an HNC/FdEng in manufacturing management and become a production engineer involving product development/costing, site supervision and project/operations management.

- Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Some practical skills would be advantageous
- Technical, IT and maths skills are important to this role
- Attention to detail and a can-do attitude to problem solving and solutions delivery is also important to this role in future

- They should be a proactive and driven individual with a willingness to develop their professional career, through practical experience, educational progress, and growth within the business. The individual should be committed and enthusiastic, and as they develop, responsible and flexible to the diverse challenges the role can entail
- Adaptability to different tasks and changeable workload priorities, attendance and punctuality is expected to be excellent
Desired qualifications
- A-level qualification (or equivalent) are preferable in a core subject
- 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) including maths and English
Future prospects
Prospect of progression to a higher-level apprenticeship qualification and to progress within the business.
Prospect of a permanent position for the right candidate upon completion of the Apprenticeship.
