Main functions:

  • To answer incoming calls, both internal and external, redirecting/taking messages as necessary and acting on instructions received
  • To relay messages to staff and pupils
  • To receive all visitors and ensure they sign in and out in accordance with the school’s procedures
  • To deal with general day to day queries from staff, pupils, parents and other visitors to the school
  • To provide First Aid cover in the absence of other First Aiders
  • To word-process school documentation as requested
  • To assist with the preparation, distribution and collation of checklists for school meals numbers and liaise with school catering staff on a daily basis
  • To record and post all outgoing mail, purchasing new stocks of stamps when required
  • To receive and distribute all incoming mail
  • To assist with the organisation of school trips/workshops, including booking coaches, TfL and venues and support the class teacher on trips/workshops as and when required
  • To assist with the maintenance of the computerised attendance/absence register including calling parents of non-attenders that have failed to notify the school
  • To assist with maintaining records of all pupils’ changes of details e.g. addresses, telephone numbers
  • To assist with ordering and maintaining stock of all school resources
  • To undertake photocopying, filing and general office duties
  • To distribute fruit and milk (including labelling those cartons purchased by parents) to each classroom
  • To provide each class teacher with weekly admin support (photocopying/laminating/preparing resources, etc.)   
  • To follow fire procedure protocols
  • Any other duties as assigned by the headteacher or line manager from time to time
  • To carry out the above duties in accordance with the School’s Equal Opportunities   Policy
