Main Duties:

  • Pitch Marking
  • Mowing including pedestrian and ride-on
  • Strimming
  • Hedgecutting
  • Leaf/debris clearance
  • Tractor driving and using implements

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Physically capable – there is some manual work and dexterity required
  • Good time keeping
  • Capable of being aware of surroundings and can assess dangers

Desired qualifications

  • 5 GCSE’s in the A* - E or 9 – 3 range
  • Either hold or have the ability to achieve a D - E in English and maths GCSE’s (3 - 4) or Level 1 Functional Skills
  • Initial assessment may be required in English and maths

Future prospects

  • Apprentices can progress to supervisory level employment within the industry or progress to Level 3 (Advanced Apprenticeship). Advanced Apprentices may progress to higher level employment or Level 4 and 5 training
