Main duties will include:

  • Working safely in an engineering environment
  • Carrying out engineering activities efficiently and effectively
  • Using and communicating technical information
  • Wiring and testing electrical equipment and circuits
  • Forming and assembling electrical cable enclosure and support systems
  • Maintaining electrical equipment/systems
  • Learning principles of engineering technology
  • Learning principles of electrical and electronics technology
  • Maintaining electrical wiring support systems
  • Ensuring all items are fitted to the highest standards using the correct fixings and pass checks
  • Repair, service and testing of welding and cutting equipment
  • Repair and service of fume extraction equipment
  • Carry out safety testing of various electrical equipment
  • Carry out calibration and/or validation of welding equipment
  • Carry out software updates/upgrades
  • Assemble and test new welding and cutting system packages
  • Assemble, test and safety test hire equipment
  • Fill-in all paperwork relevant to the above duties to a high standard
  • Assisting with incoming and outgoing deliveries
  • Assisting with answering, directing phone calls and customer queries

Desired qualifications

  • Applicants should hold a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above (or the equivalents). These should include grade 9-5 (A*-C) in GCSE English, maths and Science
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Resistant Materials or Engineering qualifications would also be desirable, but not essential

Future prospects

A permanent position may be available for the right candidate following completion of their apprenticeship. The business is looking for somebody who wants to develop and gain a full-time position following their apprenticeship and become an integral part of the business. There are opportunities for progression/role development taking on site work and also into more technical/application specific areas and/or sales.
