Job title: Early Years Educator

Reports to: Room Leader, Deputy Manager, Manager and Line Manager

Purpose of the Post:

  • To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children within the nursery environment
  • To give support to staff members within the setting
  • To work as part of a team to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, develop and learn 
  • To build and maintain strong partnerships working with parents to enable children’s needs to be met

Main Duties:

  • To effectively deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage, in conjunction with other team members, ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met 
  • To keep records of key children’s development and learning journeys; share celebratory milestones with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life to support extended learning at home
  • Support all staff closely and engage in a strong staff team that values teamwork and learning from one another
  • To effectively safeguard children, report any concerns and monitor any potential risks by using early intervention methods
  • To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents to facilitate day-to-day caring and developmental needs
  • To ensure the environment of the high-quality provision meets the needs of all individual children, having an awareness of any disabilities, cultural differences and medical histories
  • To advise the setting’s management team of any concerns (e.g. over children, parents, the safety of the environment) maintaining confidentiality as necessary and making ongoing accurate records
  • To be involved in out of working hours’ activities, e.g. staff training, meetings, events and other CPD opportunities
  • To be flexible within working practices of the setting and undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks and the preparation of children’s snacks
  • Maintain a flexible attitude of working between all our nurseries, adapting to their age-groups and environments to continue providing exemplary care and education throughout the company as a whole
  • To work alongside management and experienced staff team to ensure that the setting’s philosophy and ethos is fulfilled
  • To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting
  • To develop your role within the team, especially in regards to being a key person and a responsible person for reporting any concerns
  • To keep any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job completely confidential
  • To be aware of the high profile and reputation of the company and to uphold its standards at all times, both inside and outside of work
  • To support other staff, students and volunteers throughout the day and promote good practice and values 
  • To ensure high standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times and on-going risk assessments are carried out
  • To undertake and lead on additional responsibilities such as SENCO, student co-ordinator, safeguarding officer etc
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the line managers or the management team within your setting

Our Stourbridge branch, which opened in 2013, has a wealth of inspiring natural environments for your child to explore. We are conveniently located just outside of Stourbridge town centre, on Hagley Road, making access to multiple transport links and commute simple and straightforward.

The learning environments are incredibly well-equipped for children from birth to five years and are set over two spacious floors. Both floors provide bright, airy rooms and multiple flexible spaces for up to 70 children each session.

The dedicated rooms for children from birth to two years and two to three years are based on the ground floor. The flexibility of our rooms offers children the option to move freely between environments throughout the day, supported by their key person. Our pre-school is located on the first floor. The large free-flow learning environments captivate children and inspire their desire to play, learn and explore meaning they are extremely well prepared for their next stage of education.
