Reporting to the Team leader in charge of the area that they are working within. In addition, they will have a mentor who will ensure they are trained in 5s, Lean Manufacturing and Health and Safety, whilst studying for the Level 3 Business improvement Technician Qualification
JOB PURPOSE:
To build good quality Hoshizaki products.
LEVEL OF DECISION MAKING:
Must be able to proactively make operational decisions which ensure the smooth and continuous running of production in line with company policies and procedures.
TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To follow company rules and procedures; to build Hoshizaki products following quality procedures and regulations, regular routine 5S activity; periodic stocktaking; being flexible to cover other areas of production and manufacturing; assisting ATL’s and T/L’s as required.
COMMUNICATIONS:
To attend regular team meetings as required.
To use company hardware appropriately when asked (MES, phone, tablet, etc). To escalate any unresolved problems to ATL when necessary.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT:
To provide job training to others when required. To aim to take on new challenges within the department in order to develop and grow with the company.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
To take responsibility for their own and the team’s health and safety whilst they are on site. To always encourage awareness of health and safety. To report any accident (no matter how minor) and any near misses and to ensure to the very best of their ability that the incident does not re occur.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES APPLICABLE TO THE JOB HOLDER:
To be flexible and accommodating to ensure the job is done. To be available, as much as is reasonably practical to work overtime when requested.
Requirements and prospects
Desired skills
- Computer literacy is a must for this role and a good command of English and maths
- Any type of technical experience will be valuable, however, not essential
- Ideally Level 2 Manufacturing operative qualification or manufacturing experience

Desired qualifications
GCSE's at grades A*-C/9-5 (or equivalent) in English and maths.
Future prospects
The apprentice will over the course of the qualification be trained in BIT, Kaizen, tool training and quality awareness. It is our intention to assist the apprentice to find a skill which they may wish to develop e.g. brazing, quality or manufacturing management.
We have many opportunities on site at Hoshizaki including the chance to apply for the 24 month employee development programme on completion of the BIT training
Things to consider
An assessor from In-Comm will visit the successful candidate at company once a month.

Level 3 Improvement Technician apprenticeship standard.
During this 18-month apprenticeship the successful applicant will use a blend of Lean and Six Sigma, project and change management principles and the tools to identify and lead the delivery of change across organisational functions and processes.
