J R Agri are looking to recruit a land-based service engineer to assist with their busy agricultural engineering business.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with an interest in engineering to gain knowledge and the experience of repairing a wide range of agricultural machinery.

The role is varied, and duties would include: preparing machinery, pre-delivery inspections, servicing, repairing and diagnostics, maintaining machinery and some steel fabrication work.

The ideal candidate would be local to the area, keen to learn, hardworking, reliable and have some interest or experience in mechanics.

You will work 40 hours per week between 8:30am (earliest start) and 5pm (latest finish), Monday to Friday with some occasional weekend work if required.  Times may vary depending on the season, but this will be discussed at interview.

You will be paid an age-related minimum wage per hour. This will be reviewed throughout the programme and may increase depending on performance and progression.

Training will be provided in the workplace where you will work towards a Level 3 Land-based Service Engineering Standard Apprenticeship.

The ideal candidate must be keen to learn, enjoy a challenge, be honest, hardworking, reliable and personable and have a keen interest in mechanics.

Desired qualifications

Qualifications demonstrating sound literacy and numeracy skills (e.g. GCSE English and maths A*-C/9-4 or equivalent qualifications) are desirable.

Please ensure you have listed all qualifications & grades/predicted grades in the appropriate section of this application, paying particular attention to maths & English.

Candidates will be screened as part of the recruitment process and must be able to work at Level 1 in Functional Skills (maths and English) in order to undertake this Apprenticeship.

Please note that candidates with any qualification at the same level or above in the same subject are ineligible for funding and will not be considered for an Apprenticeship.

Future prospects

Opportunity to participate in Yamaha technical training and Texa diagnostics training for the right candidate. Also the opportunity to do specialist welding including MIG and TIG again for the right candidate.

Things to consider

We are based in a rural location with the nearest bus stop ¾ miles away so a driving licence would be an advantage but not essential

You will be expected to attend college on a block release basis (5x 2 week blocks over each of the 2 years, 20 weeks in total)

To ensure your application has the best chance of being considered for the vacancy you must provide information on all qualifications undertaken stating highest grades achieved in every subject, paying particular attention to maths and English.  Along with this you need to state any previous work experience.
