An exciting opportunity to join our talented 2 AA rosette kitchen at The Two Bridges Hotel.
Our award-winning restaurant caters for hotel guests and non-residents, using the finest local produce to prepare breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and evening meals.
Experience is essential – you must be trained and competent at Commis Chef level looking for the next step in your career you will also need to have plenty of enthusiasm, a strong interest in food and a desire to learn.

You will already have gained credible experience within a professional food environment, ideally at rosette standard;
Basic skills and knowledge at Professional Cookery Level 2 / Commis Chef Apprenticeship Standard qualification is an essential requirement, with Level 3 qualification preferred
A passion for food and produce, with a pride in its delivery to the plate.
The ability to lead a section, working with Commis Chefs in ensuring food is prepped and ready for service – great timekeeping and organisational skills are key.
Your potential, your commitment, and your ability to work under pressure alongside being an excellent team player, is every bit as important to us as your knife-handling skills.
For the right candidate we can offer accommodation at the Hotel charged at a daily rate.
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and cooking ingredients necessary and assisting in all sections of the kitchen as directed by the Head Chef
- Maintaining high levels of service
- Assisting and monitoring stock, including stock rotation
- Ensuring minimum kitchen wastage
- Keeping all working areas clean and tidy and ensure no cross contamination
- Learning skills and recipes from other members of the department and applying them
- Complying with all company policies and procedures and all statutory regulations and food hygiene policies.
- Ensure that food storage areas are maintained in accordance with the company’s Food Hygiene, Healthy and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
- Any other reasonable duties required by the Head Chef or General Manager

Desired skills
As head of your section you need to be confident enough to manage the commis chefs working with you - and to give them clear instruction.
Personal qualities
- Someone who has lots of stamina and enjoys the fast pace of working in a kitchen
- You also need to be able to stay calm and work as part of a team during a frenetic service
Desired qualifications
- To be qualified and competent at Level 2 Commis Chef
- Maths and English will be assessed as part of the interview process
