Main duties will include:

  • Setting up daily appropriate activities for the children being cared for and initiating activities to ensure that all the children’s needs are met
  • Develop and review key children’s individual learning journals, development tracking, and next steps
  • Work in partnership with the team to support children with Special Educational Needs. 
  • Follow all nursery policies and proceedures
  • Support the teacher and the room leaders in his/her role
  • Support the children with positive behaviour management
  • Develop children’s personal, social and emotional skills
  • To carry out regular observations, recording and reporting of children’s progress.
  • To ensure that all appropriate records are kept confidential
  • To ensure that resources are maintained, in good condition and suitable for the children using them
  • To carry out regular risk assessments ensuring that the setting and resources are safe at all times
  • Attend regular staff meetings
  • To demonstrate and promote equal opportunities at all times
  • To take part in the nurseries appraisal/ performance management scheme
  • Be willing to attend meeting and events in normal working hours
  • Undertake all types domestic duties to maintain good standard of well-being within the nursery e.g. preparation of snacks, meals, cleaning of equipment indoor and outdoors etc. 
  • Develop effective communication links with the child and their families
  • Working alongside all team members to ensure that the philosophy behind the aims and objectives are met
  • Be a good role model for other students
  • To undertake other relevant duties as requested from time to time which meets the aims and objectives of the Nursery
