Duties will include:

  • The candidate will undertake all aspects of livestock work from feeding and bedding cattle in the winter, to drenching, shepherding and lambing sheep outdoors
  • In addition there will be haymaking duties although the core work will be livestock based
  • The candidate must be willing to learn and take responsibility so that they are able to make decisions in the field and help us maintain our high standard of welfare and work
  • Alongside on the job training, the right candidate will also be given the opportunity to obtain additional training from certified boards such as the Lantra ATV qualification

Desired qualifications

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and maths (or equivalent).

About the employer

Craig Baxter - A first generation Beef and Sheep Farmer who graduated from the Royal Agricultural College with a 2:1 in Agriculture. Currently lambing 600 ewes outdoors on an entirely grass based system, alongside c. 75 store cattle which are wintered in sheds before being turned to grass in the spring and sold in the autumn/winter.

Alongside the livestock over 200 tonnes of hay is made and sold annually, and other contract work is undertaken.
