  • You have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children as a priority focus within their day to day practice
  • To promote and extend the enjoyment of the children and their personal learning by having high expectations of all children, treating them as individuals and providing opportunities that interest them within the Early Year Foundation Stage framework
  • Providing full care for the children including: high standards of cleanliness & hygiene, providing children with refreshments, snacks, lunch and high tea
  • Ensuring the security of children, personal belongings and premises by following policies, procedures and health and safety risk assessments
  • Encouraging the children's involvement in shaping their day and where appropriate agreeing rules, participation in planning activities and their environment
  • Encouraging parental involvement and support
  • Attending meetings and training courses as appropriate in order to keep up to date with new legislation and child care practice
  • Carrying out all responsibilities within the equal opportunities framework and providing a service that positively promotes inclusion for all

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Desirable for the post:

  • Some experience in working with birth to 5 year olds
  • Some experience of administration and organisational skills
  • Some knowledge or experience of working within the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework - Ability to work on own initiative
  • Childcare qualification or a willingness to work towards one
  • A current first aid certificate
  • A current food hygiene certificate
  • A current & clean driving license
