A typical day in the stores:

  • Receive picking lists from the sales team. One person would pick items as per the picking list. Any discrepancies, to notify line manager. Place items on work tables.The other person would check those items against picking list and then pack the items into a box
  • Picking/checking/packing role to be interchangeable
  • The order would need to be processed on the computer and a delivery label printed
  • Deliveries; incoming deliveries to be unloaded. Items to be checked off and then put away
  • End of the day, items to be loaded onto courier van, and to end tidying up
  • Other jobs would include stock taking
  • Fork Truck training to be provided

Desired qualifications

Apprentices with GCSE grades C/4, equivalent or above in English, maths are exempt from Functional Skills. If apprentices have grade D/3 GCSE or complete an initial BKSB Assessment at Level 1 they can complete Level Functional Skills as required alongside their Apprenticeship.

End-Point Assessment (EPA):

End-point assessment (EPA) is the final stage that an Apprentice goes through to complete their Apprenticeship. The Apprentice must show their learning to an independent end-point assessor and the grades available are distinction, pass or fail. The EPA will consist of:

  • Written Knowledge Test
  • Assessment of portfolio of evidence
  • Observation in workplace
  • Professional discussion relating to CPD activity

On Programme Assessment Includes:

Regular formative assessment, development of a portfolio demonstrating learning and development activities with their application in the workplace and a work-based project. As part of the qualification, Apprentices must complete all units and be competent in real work environment.
