What will the apprentice be doing?

  • You will start with general labouring tasks such as offloading parts of skeleton from laser cutting machines
  • Putting skeleton away on suitable pallets
  • Operating and settling break press machines
  • Programming on break press machines
  • General manufacturing tasks in the factory
  • Operating other low level production machinery as and when required

Willingness to learn and interest in Manufacturing industry is key as well as the ability to work as part of a team.

Desired qualifications

GCSE or equivalent English (Grade A*-C (9-4)) essential GCSE or equivalent maths (Grade A*-C (9-4)) essential At least 5 GCSEs at grade 9-4 (A*- C) including maths and English. Engineering/manufacturing related qualification would be advantageous

This apprenticeship will be delivered through a mixture of college and work-based learning. Successful candidates will attend our Printworks Campus one day per week (2 days in the first year) to learn the skills/ knowledge required to be successful within this role. They will also receive a visit once a month in their place of work from their assessor, where delivery will take place on a one-to-one basis. In addition, learners will need to be allocated 20% of their contracted hours per week to concentrate on any development activities set Functional Skills qualifications (If required):  Functional Skill in English, Functional Skill in maths,  Employment Rights and Responsibilities. Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.
