We love what we do, as an apprentice with MJ Coatings you will join a team with over 30 years' experience in Powder Coating and Wet Spraying. Our passion means that we need someone who is enthusiastic, willing to learn, friendly, reliable and a great team player. A practical role with good training, supported by an experienced mentor from the team.

Level 2 (GCSE)
This apprentice will be expected to carry out daily duties including:
- Cleaning of materials using thinners
- Preparation of materials which includes sanding and using a hand drill
- Hanging materials using different size hooks
- Packing finished goods to a high standard
- General housekeeping- sweeping and organising of hooks and materials
- Powder Coating in the future
- Stock takes both materials and powder
- Labelling and goods intake
- In house training will be available such as learning how to prep and how to test the quality of powder and paints
The apprentice will be asked to fill out job sheets and record what jobs have been completed that day. Job sheets are very important to our company as we are ISO accredited. We will require the apprentice to be able to follow processes that are already set out in the company and be able to record important information when required. The apprentice will learn how to stock take from shadowing an experienced member of staff. Stock take will then become one of their responsibilities and they will be in charge of updating the system each day/week. As the apprentice becomes more experienced, they will have the opportunity to learn how to powder. Through the building of the skill, they will then start to powder certain customers which will progress them into doing finer more specific work. The apprentice will be asked to monitor the quality of work and record any discrepancies on nonconformity sheets. The apprentice will also learn how to check goods in and out using a document and this will become a part of their daily duties.

At the end of the course there may be potential for a full-time job within MJ Coatings. As the business grows there could be different new roles in new positions.

End-Point Assessment (EPA):
End-point assessment (EPA) is the final stage that an Apprentice goes through to complete their Apprenticeship. The Apprentice must show their learning to an independent end-point assessor and the grades available are distinction, pass or fail. The EPA will consist of:
- Written Knowledge Test
- Assessment of portfolio of evidence
- Observation in workplace
- Professional discussion relating to CPD activity
On Programme Assessment includes:
Regular formative assessment, development of a portfolio demonstrating learning and development activities with their application in the workplace and a work-based project. As part of the qualification, Apprentices must complete all units and be competent in real work environment.
