As an Apprentice your duties will include:

  • Meeting and greeting clients in a polite and efficient manner
  • Scheduling Salon appointments onto the online and paper base diary
  • Dealing with incoming phone calls
  • Carrying out shampooing and conditioning services for clients
  • Helping colleagues with clients
  • Making sure that the salon is tidy and clean at all times
  • Filing and photocopying
  • General reception duties

You will be assisting stylists in ensuring that all clients are given the highest levels of customer service with special attention to comfort and friendliness. You will also generate and promote a professional working atmosphere and assist stylists in advising clients in all aspects of services available, including advising clients of all products, tools and equipment available for retail. You will receive commission payments for the products which you sell. You will receive in house training.

Desired skills

  • The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work well in a team, and to be able to portray a positive friendly attitude to customers at all times
  • Candidates will need to be enthusiastic about training, have a creative flair and a genuine passion for the hairdressing industry
  • Building good relationships with clients is a vital part of a successful salon so excellent interpersonal skills are required

Personal qualities

  • Good hygiene and appearance are essential
  • Being a keen team player are essential for any salon apprentice, you will learn how to demonstrate this consistently to ensure that you promote a positive image at all times

Desired qualifications

  • No prior qualifications are required, but must have a passion for Hairdressing and a willingness to learn

Future prospects

  • Through having completed the level 2 qualification in Hairdressing, you will then have the opportunity to progress onto the advanced Level 3 apprenticeships

Things to consider

  • Working in a salon is tiring and means standing all day. Being on time is especially important as you don’t want to keep clients waiting and you must be flexible and be prepared to be working long hours
  • Please ensure that you can attend in a safe and timely manner
