All tasks are aimed at maintaining, enhancing and conserving the heritage, landscape and wildlife in the parks. To work towards completing an Apprenticeship Level 2 (Work Based Diploma) in Horticulture (Parks, Gardens and Open Spaces) and participate in training and assessment on site. This role will involve working outside 80% of the time in all weathers.

 

Main duties will include:

  • Maintaining established green spaces
  • Mowing grass lawns and paddocks in various different settings
  • Plan and schedule seasonal planting that will thrive in different weather conditions
  • Plant bushes, shrubs, trees, flowers, and plants in a strategic pattern
  • Mulching planting areas with bark chippings or similar edge cutting
  • Plant and maintain small trees
  • Prepping grounds for and laying turf or grass seed
  • Litter picking and leaf blowing/sweeping on industrial premises
  • Assist with the landscaping team from time to time
  • Follow all Health and Safety regulations at all times and wear appropriate PPC/PPE when required
  • Perform duties in a safe and courteous manner, remembering at all times you are an ambassador for the company

Laineys care Farm is a care farm offering a day care service for adults with learning difficulties. Employed staff and volunteers are expected to support clients attending the farm with tolerance and kindness. The management would like to promote a proactive approach by staff to making the care farm experience as positive and useful to the client as possible. 

The service provided at Laineys Care Farm is intended to be therapeutic and enjoyable, empowering and confidence building for clients. The management of the farm believe that this can be achieved best by encouraging clients to put some effort into their work at the farm whilst offering encouragement and help where and when needed.
