The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Intermediate Level Apprenticeship
This is an excellent opportunity for you to establish a career in childcare at our outstanding nursery. If you love children and want to pursue a career working with them then you can achieve your level 2 and level 3 in childcare. There will also be an opportunity for you to start on a foundation degree at university after completion of your apprenticeship.
You must be willing to commit to at least 30 hours a week term time, while working and training towards your qualification. You must be cheerful, hardworking and responsible. A current DBS is an advantage.
Purpose of Post:
- To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the Setting;
- To give support to other personnel within the Setting;
- To implement the daily routine in the base room.
- Work with Children;
- Team Work;
- Liaise with Parents/carers.
Requirements and prospects
- Ideally you will have GCSEs or equivalent Maths and English grade A-C
- Good communication skills
- The ability to work with young children and their families in a sensitive and positive way
- Creative ideas for activities
- An awareness of child safety issues
To be kind and gentle towards the children in your care. To want to lean and develop within the childcare sector. To be responsible and committed with good manners.
Ideally candidates will have GCSEs grade A*-C or equivalent qualifications.
