Exciting opportunity to train as an upholsterer and/or mattress maker working at their premises at ODHAMS WHARF, TOPSHAM, DEVON EX3 0PD, working in a friendly and rapidly growing business. We are looking for candidates interested in both upholstery and mattress making. You will be provided with a permanent full time contract, with all the usual benefits including paid holiday receive competitive pay and have training through Bridgwater and Taunton College. UPHOLSTERY ROLE Main Duties: The day to day role will include all aspects of upholstery which includes timber frame making for bed bases and headboards using jigs and templates. measuring and cutting out fabrics and fillings, laminating and cutting raw materials as well as developing skills in using relevant machinery such as cutting knives, sewing machines, button presses and other upholstery tools and machinery. MATTRESS MAKING ROLE Main Duties: This role includes all aspects of mattress making, including cutting and assembly of filling materials, learning the skills of tape edging and how to hand side stitch mattresses. There will also be a requirement to learn how to cut and prepare fabric panels and there is opportunity to learn some sewing skills. You will also learn to tuft mattresses and use all the machinery required. For both roles we are looking for candidates that are practical and good with their hands, and are keen to learn. We have an excellent crew of really skilled craftsmen and women here and this is a perfect chance to learn from the best!

Desired qualifications

There are no formal requirements for this qualification, However, it would be an advantage to have GCSE’s in the 4 to 9 (A* to C) range or equivalent for English and maths, but this is not essential as you will complete Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship if necessary.
