    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Day to day duties will include:


  • Word processing  ( including email)
  • Maintaining current file systems and scanning documents to customers
  • Data inputting and general admin related duties
  • Updating the website
  • Making sure all product lines are up to date and current
  • Dealing with customer queries and answering questions to help customers make informed decisions

There is an opportunity for a full time role for the right candidate at the end of the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

This apprenticeship is with Birmingham Metropolitan College – as the training provider. The training element will take place at the Sutton Coldfield campus (possible alternative option at Matthew Boulton). This will be for ½ a day a week (starting with the level 2), for the 12 month apprenticeship. Candidates must be willing to travel to Sutton Coldfield for this training.
