About the employer
The Rose & Crown at Slaley is a Community Owned Pub which has been featured frequently in the press as one of "The Fifty Best Pubs in Britain". It is the heart of rural Slaley, a small village some five miles to the south of Hexham. The building dates back to 1675, is Grade 2 listed and has a traditional bar, separate dining room and two Bed and Breakfast rooms. The environment is a busy one with the pub catering for both locals and visitors. The team that run it are tight knit, friendly and versatile in their roles, making sure that customers receive the service they expect from a renowned local village pub.
The pub and team are managed by Tracey Weatherly who has years of experience in this field and is no stranger to working with and supporting apprentices. The philosophy of both Tracey and the owners of the pub is to provide:
- An outlet for local food producers and brewers
- Local employment
- A central point for community events and local issues
- A place to meet friends and neighbours and improve the sense of belonging and community.
