Apprentices would be assisting residents with their daily living and working with the nurse to manage heath needs. We look after a range of residents from re-enablement, allowing people to go home through to end-of-life care.

We have a good team here at Twin Oaks with lots of experienced staff to help new apprentices through their training.

Duties will include:

  • Supporting residents to make choices
  • Assisting with washing and dressing of residents
  • Assisting with food and fluid intake
  • Supporting residents with social activities
  • Noticing changes to a resident’s health or well-being and escalate concerns to the relevant members of the team
  • Contribute to the care planning of resident’s working alongside the nurse
  • Maintaining good level of record keeping
  • Communicating effectively with residents, visitors and colleagues

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • The applicant would need to have a very basic understanding of IT with good verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills
  • Applicants need to be aware of confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of our work

Personal qualities

  • We are looking for someone who is friendly, good with people and willing to learn but most of all caring
  • The applicant would need to be reliable and trustworthy
  • A good team worker but with an initiative to work on their own

Desired qualifications

  • English and maths GCSE's at a grade 3/D or equivalent is desired but not necessary

Future prospects

  • Further apprenticeships are available if appropriate in level 3, level 4 and even registered professional qualifications such as Nursing Associate and Registered Nurse apprenticeships
