You will be trained in all aspects of commercial and domestic grounds maintenance. We are looking for an apprentice gardener’s assistant to help build business and fulfil customer’s gardening needs. You will train one day a week at Shipley College in Horticulture.

Maintenance Duties will include:

  • Grass cutting
  • Strimming
  • Hedge trimming
  • Digging over
  • Weeding
  • Planting
  • Turfing
  • Clearing up
  • Gritting
  • Leaf clearing


Gardening is a very manual job, so you should be prepared for physical labour. You should be ready to work in any weather; sunshine, rain or even snow. School leavers are welcome to apply. The employer will hold the position open for the right applicant.

Due to the nature of our very manual work a successful applicant must be strong and physically fit. It is also essential that they would be friendly, have a good level of customer service and demonstrate professionalism.

Maths and English A-D, 3 + or equivalent.Lower grades will be considered after sitting a Shipley College Skills assessment.

Things to consider

8am till 5pm with one day release for college. Hours TBC. The employer is willing to offer a performance pay rise during the apprenticeship. Please discuss details at interview.
