The purpose of the role is to provide an effective and efficient finance service whilst undertaking Accounting training. The successful candidate will be expected to provide the highest level of customer service and financial support.

Main duties include:

  • To assist in the everyday running of the finance office, by keeping records updated and to become confident in using accounts software.
  • Preparing and distributing financial schedules to support management.
  • Communicating with colleagues within and outside of finance, including by telephone, and to help the finance team achieve its objectives.
  • Carrying out other finance-related tasks from processing, posting and updating the accounts software, to making sure papers are correctly filed and up to date.

  • Knowledge and a desire to improve that knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook.

Future prospects

A permanent position may be available for the right candidate following successful completion of the Apprenticeship. The business is looking for somebody who wants to develop and gain a full- time position following their Apprenticeship.

Although the apprentice is expected to the join the January/February 2022 apprenticeship programme at Norwich City College, we are currently very busy due to growth of the business and have a need for this person to join our team as soon as possible, particularly because we are approaching our annual year end in December.

For the full Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Standard, apprentices will cover:

  • Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Standard.
  • All knowledge, skills and behaviours.
  • Level 3 AAT.
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English.
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths.

Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End Point Assessment.

End Point Assessments will then be undertaken after the programme of study (of at least 12 months) and will include a synoptic end-test, portfolio, and reflective discussion.
