    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

We are a small business looking for a highly motivated Apprentice to join our friendly team. We are a lunchtime establishment and each day we cook a new fresh menu. We have 5 main sections in the kitchen, so there will be lots to learn and plenty of room for new and exciting ideas too! During our busy lunch time, this role also involves:
 

  • Serving customers.
  • Clearing tables.
  • The usual cleaning/clearing involved in a busy kitchen.

 

The kitchen is a very fast paced environment so the candidate must have an excellent work ethic and be able to work well under pressure.

Qualifications required

On completion of a successful Apprenticeship programme, there will be an opportunity to take on a full time role within the company.

Things to consider

There will be taught sessions once a week at Strode College in Street, Somerset. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
