You will be working in a busy Engineering office alongside 3 other Engineers. Alongside your College course you will be combining on-the job learning of our CNC machines, welding & Polishing processes.

You will also be training to be our next big star in the Technical department learning things like 2D/3D design, Standard Operating Procedures, O&M Manuals, Problem solving, Lean Manufacturing etc. as well as your day to day activities.

You will need to demonstrate an interest in an engineering discipline, be I.T. literate, to have the ability to work efficiently and accurate both individual and as part of the team, to be able to prioritise workload using own initiative, a good problem solver and a high level of flexibility and dependability.

Responsibilities will include:

  • To create 2D/3D designs/drawings to suit customer requirements
  • To create company information including Drawings, Data sheets, BIM files, O&M’s & SOP’s
  • To research & develop the innovation, improvement & introduction of new & existing product designs whilst taking ownership of concept through to Manufacture
  • To use lean systematic methods to reduce waste in all areas of the business
  • To use the company ERP system
  • To be ‘hands-on’ and willing to train on Factory floor processes
  • To carry out such tasks and duties from your department manager that contributes to requisite levels of performance and competence

Desired qualifications

At least 4 GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) including maths and English.

This apprenticeship will be delivered through a mixture of college and work-based learning. Successful candidates will attend our Printworks Campus one day per week (2 days in the first year) to learn the skills/ knowledge required to be successful within this role. They will also receive a visit once a month in their place of work from their assessor, where delivery will take place on a one to one basis.

In addition learners will need to be allocated 20% of their contracted hours per week to concentrate on any development activities set

Technical Support Technicians, work as part of a team to provide technical support and expertise for all areas of the Engineering and Manufacturing function including communications software, test, analysis tools, measurement, off line programming, process control, performance and continuous improvement solutions, capacity planning, production scheduling/planning, product technical applications and capability, technical sales and marketing support, product development and innovation, engineering drawing, purchasing and/or supply of goods or services for engineering activities, quality control, inspection and e-commerce technologies as required. The requirements are designed to offer stretch and progression.

They will be able to work with minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of the work they undertake. They will be proactive in finding solutions to problems and identifying areas for improving the business.
