A vacancy has arisen for a Student VCA at our well-established practices in Maids Moreton, Buckingham & Potterspury, Towcester.

The successful candidate will be working alongside our team of qualified and student veterinary nurses to provide a high standard of care for our clients and hospital patients. Our nurses see an exciting and varied caseload and have the opportunity to continually develop their nursing skills in surgical, medical and emergency nursing.

As part of your role you may be involved in:

  • Maintaining an efficiently running surgery with a clean clinical environment
  • Assisting with animal handling
  • Supporting the veterinary team

The vacancy will be mainly based at Maids Moreton to begin with but there will eventually be travel between the two surgeries so the successful applicant will need to have a reliable mode of transport.

Personal qualities

Must be confident, reliable and have a keen interest in everything related to animals and veterinary nursing.

Desired qualifications

  • 5 passes in GCSE (or equivalent) including English & maths essential
  • Science would be good but not essential
  • A levels

Future prospects

We are looking for a long-term candidate to grow with the practice. We are now part of IVC so plenty of future opportunities.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices is £4.30 per hour as of 01/04/2021. This applies to 16-18 year olds and those aged 19+ in the first year of their apprenticeship. For all other apprentices, the NMW appropriate to their age applies.

The NMW for apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
