As part of this role you will be required to study towards the Infrastructure Communication Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard at Colchester Institute.

Duties to include:

  • Set up and configure computers and peripheral equipment such as printers, scanners, etc
  • Perform audits and tests on phone systems, networks, and hardware to ensure it is functioning properly
  • Respond to support requests and assist in troubleshooting any problems that arise
  • Attempt to replicate reported technical problems and look for solutions
  • Ensure all software and hardware is up-to-date and install updates as required
  • Maintain computer network, system, and hardware documentation for colleagues to reference

  • All candidates will be required to complete Colchester Institute's mandatory initial assessment process before being put forward to the company. This will consist of online assessments

Things to consider

  • This is a technical role, you will be expected to spend long periods of time on a variety of computers, you must be willing to travel during the day to a number of locations with other members of the team and you will be expected to manage your own working day, sometimes under pressure, and be able to work as part of a team

About the employer

Computer and phone support and repair. Independent business which is rapidly expanding. We deal with all sizes of customers from large networking on site, CCTV installation for shops and businesses to small domestic phone repairs. We provide remote support and workshop repairs for a wide variety of IT equipment. We are a small business based in Coggeshall that is easily reached by public transport. (Please note that we are based in a first floor office accessible only by stairs.)
