Set in the heart of the Chilterns, we are currently expanding our chocolate production, and are looking for a dedicated, reliable and enthusiastic apprentice to join our friendly team at this exciting
time. Previous professional kitchen experience is desirable but not necessary. The successful applicant will join the team in producing artisan chocolates for our retail and wholesale outlets.

Your duties will include:

  • To support the chocolate team in producing Rumsey’s artisan chocolates for our retail and wholesale outlets
  • To learn about all aspects of Rumsey’s chocolate production, working to a consistently high standard, ensuring excellent hygiene standards and the smooth running of the kitchen
  • To be willing to muck-in with all elements of running the kitchen, including washing up, polishing moulds, topping up chocolates in the shop, unpacking deliveries etc.
  • To assist in running chocolate-making workshops and courses for children and adults
  • Must also be willing to help in the running of chocolaterie at busy times in addition to chocolate work - this includes patisserie and shop activities
  • The job will primarily be based in our Wendover chocolaterie, though work in Thame will be necessary on occasions

  • Previous professional kitchen experience is desirable but not necessary. Rather we are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic apprentice who is willing to muck-in and keen to learn

Rumsey’s Handmade Chocolates is a family run business set in the heart of the Chilterns. Started by Nigel Rumsey in 2001, Rumsey’s operates two chocolateries in the market towns of Wendover and Thame, creating award-winning chocolates for retail and wholesale. The team consists of four dedicated chocolate chefs, two patisserie chefs and around 35 front of house members. Chocolate is at the centre of everything we do, and members of the public enjoy seeing the chocolate chefs at work in our theatre kitchens.
