You will work in an environment to develop the skills and knowledge to complete a Level 3 qualification in Business Administration over a 15month period comprising office/ site work, written assessment and e learning with face-to-face support being supplied by a government approved training provider who will visit the place of your employment to meet with you every 6 weeks.

Your primary function will be to work as part of the Transport Team. The intention is that the apprentice will gain sufficient knowledge and experience that at the end of this period and should the opportunity be available, they would be well placed to attend a college to pursue a formal qualification in Logistics/Transport Management as a pre cursor to them progressing a career in the same within the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Direct drivers and operatives, advising them on all loading and unloading of consignments and required works
  2. Respect the law on road traffic and the carriage of goods
  3. Communicate with drivers, subcontractors, managers and key personnel, keeping them up to date with any changes that may need to be implemented
  4. Provide accurate routing information to ensure that delivery times and locations are coordinated effectively
  5. Obtain quotes for transportation and also make cost comparisons where necessary
  6. Establish strong and positive relationships with clients in pursuit of sustainable business relationships
  7. Ensure compliance and understanding of all current legislations, regulations and procedures
  8. Sense check weekly time sheets

Reports To: General Manager/Transport Manager.

Holidays: 22 plus statutory.
