As an Administration Support apprentice, working for Dartford Environmental Health team, you will be part of the friendly team that makes a difference in protecting the public’s health and safety.

We are a fast paced and diverse team with an excellent track record in partnership working and high quality delivery.

This post will provide professional and comprehensive support for the delivery of the environmental health service attaining the highest standard of customer care.

Main Duties:

  • To respond to enquiries received face-to-face, by telephone, or by electronic communication and ensure that relevant accurate information, advice and assistance is provided in a helpful, friendly, courteous and impartial manner
  • To provide a welcoming and friendly environment that inspires environmental health customers to have confidence in our ability to help
  • To work with other members of the environmental health team to meet the standards set for the environmental health service, all other relevant operating standards and the teams objectives and targets
  • Scanning and processing incoming post – using the Idox Document Management System
  • Assisting with out-going correspondence by printing off letters, and taking to the Post Room
  • Telephony services – to answer telephone enquiries from both internal and external customers ensuring that appropriate information, advice and/or assistance is professionally given
  • Monitor the department’s email in-box under the supervision of the Technical Administrator ensuring that appropriate information is recorded and advice and/or   assistance is professionally given
  • Reviewing publications – under the supervision of the Technical Administrator assisting with updating of forms and leaflets
  • Paying money received from the stray dog kennels into the cash machine kiosk
  • Updating databases including excel spreadsheets
  • Placing orders using E-procurement financial system
  • Uploading Food Hygiene ratings to the Food Standards Agency portal
  • Carry out land registry searches using the Governments website
  • Updating publications/website pages
  • Any additional administrative tasks as requested by members of the Environmental Health team
  • To keep acquainted with any changes in working practices
  • To follow work instructions, guidance notes and other policies as directed
  • To discuss concerns about work related matters as soon as possible with the Environmental Health Manager
