Apprentice Commis Chef UNIVERSITY OF ESSEX CAMPUS SERVICES LIMITED

You will be working and training alongside our chef managers and chefs in various units learning different styles of cooking from street food to pastry. You will be learning all the basic skills needed whilst working in traditional kitchens, open kitchens, food production, delivered catering, pastry kitchen.

As part of this role you will be required to study towards the Commis Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard at Colchester Institute. 

Duties:

  • Prepping food
  • Serving food when required
  • Working in different kitchen environment
  • Cleaning and maintaining hygiene standards.
  • Carrying out jobs assigned to you by the line manager
  • Attend training courses
  • Meeting legislation and company standards
  • Keeping up to date with course requirements
  • Attending college weekly
  • Working towards a permanent role within the organisation.
  • Weekly meeting with the Chef Manager
  • Adhering to UECS policies

  • All candidates will be required to complete Colchester Institute's mandatory initial assessment process before being put forward to the company. This will consist of online assessments

Future prospects

  • We are restructuring so that there will be a line of progression from Commis chef up to Executive Chef
