As part of this role you will be required to study towards the Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard at Colchester Institute

This role reports in to the Warehouse manager and is predominantly based in the warehouse itself or as an assistant in one of our delivery lorries. The majority of the time will be at our warehouse in Peartree road. Whilst the warehouse is a separate building, there should be regular interaction and dialogue with the whole store teams.

Daily duties will include:

  • Warehouse movements / housekeeping
  • Loading lorries with furniture for deliveries – This can be heavy work as we sell high quality, well made furniture
  • Unloading lorries with deliveries from suppliers
  • Transferring items from the warehouse to the store and setting up ready for display
  • Completing relevant administration 
  • When required, covering for the role of Delivery and Installation Assistant (Drivers mate)
  • Where required, assembly of some of our budget flat packed furniture ready for display or delivery to customers
  • Due to the nature of our products, lots of manual lifting is involved in the role

  • Essential: GCSEs or equivalent including maths and English at grades A*-E/9-2
  • All candidates will be required to complete Colchester Institute's mandatory initial assessment process before being put forward to the company
  • This will consist of online assessments and interview with the relevant department

Future prospects

  • There are many different roles within the warehouse with different specialisms
  • We endeavour to promote from within and often fund colleagues to complete 7.5 Tonne driving course/test
  • We also have varying levels of management for longer term progression for the right person

  • Our furniture can be heavy and requires manual handling. It is essential that the candidate is prepared for this
