A normal day would include:

  • Responsible for the despatch and/or collection of all Goods Outwards
  • Spot checking of despatch items to ensure consistent packing quality and correct contents etc.
  • Entering of delivery information onto various online courier portals, liaising with Account Handlers if more information is required
  • Contacting and booking specialist couriers for special delivery requirements 
  • Printing and applying despatch labels and delivery notes
  • Oversee overall quality of parcel packing, resolving minor issues, or escalating major or repeated issues, and storing of quality control documentation 
  • Updating of company MIS system to reflect despatch status of jobs
  • Obtain and record PODs/Signed delivery notes for all despatch items & further update MIS system accordingly
  • Liaise with customers following delivery/failed delivery to ensure any issues are resolved and confirm items are received in good condition
  • Monitor courier performance based on number of late or failed deliveries, damaged goods and highlight service issues to supervisor for review
  • Monitor stock of packaging materials and advise supervisor when levels are low
  • Research and be a point of contact for packaging suppliers offering new products and advise supervisor of any products which may be beneficial to the company
  • Update other company departments with current workload and keep them fully updated on all outgoing parcels

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Good communication skills (and the ability to read and write in English)
  • Be numerate and have an understanding of arithmetic
