The responsibilities of the role are to support and engage with internal and external stakeholders. With a focus on adding value, the role of Business Administrator contributes to the efficiency of an organisation, through support of functional areas, working across teams and resolving issues as requested. The flexibility and responsiveness required allows the apprentice to develop a wide range of skills.

The Business Administrator is expected to deliver their responsibilities efficiently and with integrity – showing a positive attitude. The role involves demonstrating strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and adopting a proactive approach to developing skills.

The Business Administrator is also expected to show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, decision-making and the potential for people management responsibilities through mentoring or coaching others.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Answering the telephone – polite telephone manner
  • Speaking with customers/3rd parties
  • Dealing with/replying to emails
  • Confidentiality in the workplace
  • A good understanding of the Microsoft Office package, MAC, having the ability to create documents, spreadsheets and manage communications

Course content:

A Level 3 Apprenticeship is delivered in the workplace with one-day college release at Keighley College (BD21 4HQ).

An Assessor from Keighley College will visit you on a regular basis to complete your college work.

In order to complete this apprenticeship you need to be at level 2 for Maths and English if you do not have this you will work towards your functional skills as part of the programme.

The apprenticeship is aligned to professional recognition from employers within the Business Sector. The end-point assessment takes place at the end of the apprentice’s learning and development, after a minimum of 12 months’ on-programme learning.  It will consist of a knowledge test (20%), a structured portfolio-based interview (40%), and a project/improvement presentation (40%), which is carried out after the apprentice has met the required criteria to pass the Gateway process. The apprenticeship is graded a pass, distinction or fail based on performance in the End-Point Assessment (EPA).
