Each job and project is varied and diverse, and with current workloads the company is looking to develop the next generation of welders and fabricators to join the team and progress.  Duties will include:

  • drilling and punching holes
  • setting out of jobs
  • sheet metal fabrication
  • various welding techniques
  • parts preparation
  • section cutting and shaping
  • painting
  • assisting other fabricators on large projects
  • assembling of components
  • maintaining factory facilities

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Any experience in fabrication / drilling / grinding or welding would be advantageous - or other practical skills such as wood working, car mechanics, DIY, model making or similar
  • Good verbal and written communications
  • Good maths skills
  • able to work independently and with other team members

Personal qualities

  • Punctual
  • Reliable
  • Hands-on, enjoys doing practical work

Desired qualifications

  • GCSE grade 4 and above in English and maths, as a minimum
  • GCSE Design and Technology or Engineering would be good

Future prospects

The successful apprentice may have the opportunity to learn other job roles such as press brake operator and laser operator in order to be able to support all areas of the business and gain rounded engineering knowledge.

The training for this apprenticeship will be delivered over a period of 15 months, with the apprentice required to attend college 2 days per months during this time (at In-Comm Training Services Limited, Aldridge, WS9 8UG), to achieve knowledge, understanding and competence in the following subjects:
